Softick PPP Help

In order to setup Connection for Softick PPP from Palm site please do the following:

1. Open Pref application and select Network page.
2. Choose "Windows RAS service" or create and name your own network profile ("Home Computer" for example).
3. User Name - is an existing Windows user name which have "Dial-In" permission. Please look into Windows Setup for details.
4. Please fill password field. You can leave it blank if you wish to enter password before connecting.
5. Connection: Cradle/Cable.
   

Tap "Details" button for network specific details.

1. Set Connection type to PPP.
2. Idle timeout: as you wish. I set "Never" since Palm is powered when it in the cradle.
3. Check "Query DNS" if your Dial-In server provides DNS address. If not, Uncheck this box and fill Primary DNS address:
   1. Set your ISP DNS address if your computer access Internet directly (modem, DSL modem, Cable modem and so on).
   2. Set your Network DNS address if your host computer is a part of Local Area Network and your network has DNS server.
   3. Set IP Address of Palm RAS Adapter if you have setup Proxy server on your host computer or you are using DNS proxy service.
      If your have Secondary DNS server you may fill it.
4. Check "Automatic" to receive IP address from desktop automatically.
   
5. Tap "Script". It should be empty (only single line with "End" should be in the list).
   
6. Tap Ok to return to details. Tap Ok to return to Network page.

Tap Connect to establish PPP connection to the host PC.

Note: It takes some time to configure USB device and establish PPP connection. Please do not tap "Connect" button twice, since Palm OS queues events, and after connection is established this queued event may break it.
