Before establishing PPP connection from Palm to your local network
or Internet you need to setup Network Profile on your Palm.
- Open Pref application and select Network page. For Tungsten-T model firstly click Communication
button and then select Network page.
- Choose predefined "Windows RAS service" or create and name your own network profile ("Home Computer" for
example).
- UserName/Password. Currently Softick PPP 2.0 doesn't check user name and password, so you can leave them blank.
- Connection: Cradle/Cable.
Tap "Details" button for network specific details.
- Set Connection type to PPP.
- Idle timeout: as you wish. I set "Never" since Palm is powered when it in the cradle.
- Check "Query DNS" if you have provided DNS addresses in Softick PPP desktop configuration program.
Otherwise, ask your network administrator for valid DNS server addresses.
- Check "Automatic" to receive IP address from desktop automatically.
- Tap "Script". It should be empty (only single line with "End" should be in the list).
- Tap Ok to return to details. Tap Ok to return to Network page.
Tap Connect to establish PPP connection to the host PC.
Note: It takes some time to configure USB device and establish PPP
connection. Please do not tap "Connect" button twice, since Palm OS queues events, and after
connection is established this queued event may break it.
